Foodies: ActNow!

ActNow is the United Nations’ global call to individual action on climate change and a critical part of the UN’s coordinated effort to raise awareness, ambition, and action for climate change and accelerate implementation of the Paris Agreement. ActNow aims to educate and encourage individual behavioural change, mainly by adjusting consumption patterns.
Responsible for driving greenhouse gas emissions and biodiversity loss, food is a key driver of climate change. As such, ActNow asks people around the world to help build a sustainable food future by cooking up dishes that are not only delicious but also good for the planet and good for us. As food sourced from animals have a relatively high environmental footprints per serving, ActNow challenges foodies to re-balance their plate with plant-based ingredients with a small footprint i.e. beans, pulses, grains.
Chefs are at the heart of the global food system. They bridge the gap between farm and fork - influencing what we grow, what we put on our plates and how we think and talk about food. That’s why chefs across the globe will spearhead ActNow, providing tips and trips for climate-friendly cooking & eating with examples from their own kitchens.
Championing ingredients grown with respect for the earth and it's oceans, the Chefs' Manifesto will partner with the United Nation's ActNow Climate Campaign to galvanise chefs to inspire measurable action from people around the world in the food that they eat and actions in their kitchen.
