Gathering chefs from around the world, the Chefs’ Manifesto aims to profile chefs’ work, shared learnings and best practice as well as empower chefs everywhere to be advocates for a sustainable food system.
Chefs are at the heart of the global food system. They bridge the gap between farm and fork – influencing what we grow, what we put on our plates and how we think and talk about food. If chefs take a lead on sustainability issues – such as tackling food waste and sustainable sourcing – diners, farmers, business and even government will follow. Through their networks, chefs have the power to curate a new global conversation about food and translate the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into accessible, everyday actions in our kitchens, classrooms and communities.
To support chef action on the SDGs, the Chefs’ Manifesto collates useful resources from around the world and creates resources to fill gaps.
Here’s how to get the best out of the Chefs’ Manifesto site:
Are you hosting a cooking class, workshop or other event we should know about? Filtered by Global Goal, event type, or region, the Calendar function allows you to scan the chef action landscape over the coming months. Also, add your chef events to the calendar for amplification.
Under Act Now in the Menu bar, you can find ideas and guidance on the actions YOU can take in your kitchen and restaurant, and also on broader advocacy around SDG2.
Find regularly updated news and resources, as well as blog posts about chef action from across the world in our news section. Are you working on an exciting project or would like to write about a chef & sustainability related topic? Get in touch with us!
For the first time, the Chefs' Manifesto Website now includes a user directory – a database of all chefs signed up to the Chefs' Manifesto, organised by country! You each have an individual account and can log in to see other users and use the calendar.
So if you haven't done so already, sign up to the Chefs' Manifesto now and help us drive progress on the Global Goals! Come back regularly as we grow our network and platform.
Best,
Paul & SDG2 Advocacy Hub Team
